Return & Refund Policy

At Detroit Decal & Apparel, many of our products are made-to-order, decorated, customized, personalized, special ordered, or produced specifically for the customer after an order is placed. Because of this, our return, refund, cancellation, and correction policies depend on the type of item ordered, whether production has started, and whether the issue was reported within the required timeframe.

Custom, Personalized, and Made-to-Order Items

Custom, personalized, decorated, department-branded, fundraiser, team, agency store, company store, school store, and made-to-order items are not eligible for return, exchange, refund, or cancellation once production has started.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Items with names, numbers, ranks, logos, departments, agencies, schools, teams, businesses, or custom artwork
  • Print-on-demand apparel
  • Embroidered, screen printed, DTF, DTG, vinyl, engraved, heat-pressed, or otherwise decorated items
  • Fundraiser, team store, department store, agency store, company store, or school store products
  • Special-order items ordered from a supplier specifically for your order
  • Seasonal, event-specific, or limited-run merchandise
  • Bulk orders and group orders

Because these items are produced specifically for the customer and generally cannot be resold, all custom, decorated, personalized, and made-to-order items are considered final sale once production has begun.

If a custom or made-to-order item arrives defective, damaged, missing, or incorrect due to an error by Detroit Decal & Apparel, we will review the issue and, if verified, determine the appropriate resolution. Available resolutions may include repair, replacement, reprint, fulfillment of the missing item, store credit, or refund at our discretion.

Refunds are not automatic and will generally only be considered when repair, replacement, correction, fulfillment, or store credit is not a reasonable option, or when otherwise required by law.

Order Review Requirement

Customers are responsible for inspecting all items immediately upon delivery, pickup, or receipt.

Any issue involving missing items, incorrect items, damaged items, defective items, misprints, decoration concerns, order discrepancies, or fulfillment errors must be reported via e-mail to info@detroitdecalandapparel.com within 7 calendar days of delivery, pickup, or confirmed receipt. 

Claims submitted after this timeframe may be denied.

If Detroit Decal & Apparel chooses to assist with a claim submitted outside the required reporting period, that assistance is considered a courtesy and does not waive, modify, or extend this policy.

Damaged, Defective, Missing, or Incorrect Orders

Please inspect your order as soon as it is delivered. If your item arrives damaged, defective, missing, or incorrect, contact us right away at info@detroitdecalandapparel.com with your order number, clear photos if applicable, packaging photos if applicable, and a brief explanation of the issue.

If the issue is verified as an error by Detroit Decal & Apparel, we will make it right by repairing the item, replacing the item, reprinting the item, fulfilling the missing item, issuing store credit, or refunding the affected item, depending on the situation.

Detroit Decal & Apparel reserves the right to correct, replace, reprint, or fulfill missing/incorrect items before any refund is considered.

The following are not considered defects or production errors:

  • Damage caused by wear, washing, improper care, misuse, or normal use
  • Incorrect sizing selected by the customer
  • Customer-supplied artwork errors
  • Customer-approved proof errors
  • Spelling, placement, logo, color, or design choices approved by the customer
  • Slight variations in garment color, thread color, ink color, print texture, or decoration placement
  • Differences caused by garment material, dye lots, manufacturer changes, or screen/device display settings
  • Issues reported outside the required claim window
  • Missing Items

If an item is missing from an order, Detroit Decal & Apparel must be notified in writing within 7 calendar days of delivery, pickup, or confirmed receipt.

If a missing item claim is timely submitted and verified, our first remedy will be to fulfill the missing item or provide a comparable replacement when appropriate.

A missing item does not automatically create a right to a cash refund if the item can still be reasonably fulfilled, replaced, corrected, or otherwise resolved.

Incorrect Items Sent in Error

If you receive an incorrect item due to an error by Detroit Decal & Apparel, we will review the issue and, if verified, provide the correct item or another approved resolution.

If we ship a replacement before receiving the incorrect item back, you agree to return the incorrect item within five business days of receiving the prepaid return label.

If the incorrect item is not returned within that time frame, we reserve the right to invoice you for the additional item, charge the original payment method where permitted, or deduct the value from any pending refund or credit.

Misprints and Decoration Issues

If an item is misprinted, decorated incorrectly, or otherwise produced incorrectly due to an error by Detroit Decal & Apparel, the issue must be reported in writing within 7 calendar days of delivery, pickup, or confirmed receipt.

If verified, Detroit Decal & Apparel will determine the appropriate resolution, which may include repair, replacement, reprint, store credit, or refund at our discretion.

Cash refunds are not guaranteed when the item can reasonably be corrected, reprinted, replaced, or fulfilled.

Late Claims

Claims reported after the 7-day inspection period may not be eligible for refund, replacement, reprint, correction, fulfillment, or store credit.

If Detroit Decal & Apparel agrees to assist with a late claim, the available remedy will generally be limited to correction, replacement, reprint, fulfillment of missing items, or store credit.

Late claims do not create an automatic right to a cash refund.


Seasonal, Event, and Time-Sensitive Items

Many products are ordered for specific seasons, holidays, school years, departments, fundraisers, events, or promotional campaigns. Customers are responsible for notifying Detroit Decal & Apparel before placing an order if an item is needed by a specific date.

Unless a written delivery deadline is expressly agreed to by Detroit Decal & Apparel, missed seasons, expired events, changed plans, delayed use, or no longer needing the item does not create a right to a refund once a custom, decorated, made-to-order, or special-order item has entered production or been fulfilled.

Order Cancellations

Custom, personalized, decorated, made-to-order, and special-order items may not be canceled once production has started, materials have been ordered, artwork has been prepared, garments have been ordered, or the order has been submitted into production.

If a cancellation is approved before production begins, any design time, setup fees, ordering costs, processing fees, supplier restocking fees, shipping charges, or other non-recoverable costs may be deducted from any available refund or credit.


Non-Custom Item Returns

For eligible non-custom, non-decorated items, we offer a 30-day return window from the date your order is delivered.

To be eligible for return, the item must be:

  • Unused, unworn, unwashed, and in original condition
  • Returned with tags and original packaging when applicable
  • Accompanied by proof of purchase
  • Approved by Detroit Decal & Apparel before being returned

Approved non-custom returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Original shipping charges are non-refundable.

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to a verified error by Detroit Decal & Apparel.

Return Approval Required

All returns must be approved before being sent back.

To request a return, email info@detroitdecalandapparel.com with your order number, photos if applicable, and a brief explanation of the issue.

Items returned without prior approval may be refused and will not be eligible for refund, exchange, replacement, or credit.


Exchanges

We do not process direct exchanges.

If an eligible non-custom return is approved, you may place a new order for the replacement item.

Custom, decorated, made-to-order, personalized, fundraiser, department store, agency store, company store, school store, and special-order items are not eligible for size exchanges unless the wrong size was sent due to a verified error by Detroit Decal & Apparel.


Sale, Clearance, and Final Sale Items

Sale, clearance, closeout, discontinued, special-order, seasonal, event-specific, and final sale items are not eligible for return, exchange, or refund.

Gift cards are non-refundable.

Supplier, Stock, and Garment Availability

Garment colors, sizes, brands, and styles are subject to supplier availability. If a selected item becomes unavailable, discontinued, backordered, or otherwise unavailable, Detroit Decal & Apparel may offer a comparable substitute, alternate garment, store credit, refund, or other reasonable resolution depending on the circumstances.

Supplier delays, backorders, discontinued items, manufacturer defects, shipping delays, or other issues outside our direct control do not automatically create a right to a cash refund for custom, decorated, made-to-order, or special-order goods when a reasonable replacement, correction, fulfillment, or credit option is available.

Refunds

Once your approved return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome.

If approved, your refund will be issued to the original payment method within 10 business days, less any applicable restocking fees, return shipping costs, supplier fees, processing fees, setup fees, decoration costs, or other non-refundable charges.

Your bank or credit card company may require additional processing time before the refund appears on your account.

Refund Limitations

Refunds, when approved, are issued at the discretion of Detroit Decal & Apparel and only when replacement, correction, reprint, fulfillment, or store credit is not a reasonable option, or when otherwise required by law.

Approved refunds may exclude:

  • Custom decoration costs
  • Artwork or design time
  • Setup fees
  • Rush fees
  • Shipping charges
  • Supplier restocking fees
  • Payment processing fees
  • Special-order product costs
  • Completed production costs
  • Non-recoverable costs already incurred by Detroit Decal & Apparel
  • No refund will exceed the amount paid for the specific item at issue.

Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Customers are expected to contact Detroit Decal & Apparel directly regarding any order issue before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute.

Filing a chargeback does not waive this policy or create entitlement to a refund beyond the remedies stated above. Detroit Decal & Apparel reserves the right to provide order records, production records, delivery records, communication history, proof of fulfillment, and this policy in response to any payment dispute.


Final Sale Notice

By placing an order with Detroit Decal & Apparel, the customer acknowledges that custom, decorated, personalized, made-to-order, special-order, fundraiser, department store, agency store, company store, and school store products are final sale once production begins.

For any verified issue, Detroit Decal & Apparel’s available remedies are limited to correction, repair, replacement, reprint, fulfillment of missing items, store credit, or refund only where required by law or expressly approved by Detroit Decal & Apparel.

 

Management reserves full discretion on all refund and return decisions.
